Abstract

The literacy program management in Islamic boarding schools plays a crucial role in cultivating students’ reading interest and creating a culture of learning based on knowledge and values. However, many pesantren still face challenges in managing structured literacy activities and providing diverse reading materials. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to strengthen the literacy management system at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Ittihad, Tanjung Jabung Timur. The program was carried out through a participatory approach, involving teachers and students in planning, implementing, and evaluating literacy activities. The training included workshops on literacy management, the establishment of a pesantren literacy team, and mentoring on reading routines and book review practices. The results show an increase in students’ reading motivation, participation in literacy activities, and teachers’ managerial ability in organizing reading programs. The program also encouraged the creation of a more academic and communicative learning atmosphere within the pesantren. This literacy management model can serve as a reference for Islamic boarding schools in developing sustainable reading cultures that strengthen students’ intellectual and spiritual growth.
