Abstract

The development of information technology opens up great opportunities for innovation in elementary level science learning. PhET Interactive Simulations is an interactive scientific simulation platform that can visualize abstract science concepts, making it easier for students to understand. However, the utilization of PhET at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) level in Jelutung District is still low due to limited teacher understanding of the use of simulation, limited equipment, and the lack of integration models into RPPs. This Community Service activity aims to strengthen the ability of MI teachers to utilize PhET as a science learning medium through workshops, direct practice, mentoring, and preparing teaching tools (RPP & Student Worksheets). The method used is a mixture of quantitative and qualitative (pretest–posttest, observation, interviews, product analysis). The results showed an increase in the average teacher knowledge score regarding the use of PhET from 48.2% to 86.4% (an increase of 38.2 points). As many as 28 out of 30 teachers prepared lesson plans that integrated PhET and trials in class showed increased student engagement, decreased misconceptions, and increased learning outcomes on the concept indicators tested. It is recommended that schools facilitate access to devices, implement regular mentoring programs, and make PhET part of the digital learning resource bank in the sub-district.
